What Is a Buyer Representation Agreement?

Under Ontario’s updated real estate Trust in Real Estate Services Act (TRESA) rules, a Buyer Representation Agreement is a written agreement that officially confirms who represents you in a real estate transaction.

Once signed, it allows your real estate agent to:
  • Protect your personal and financial information
  • Provide confidential advice
  • Guide you on pricing and value
  • Structure and negotiate offers in your best interest
  • Act as your dedicated advocate throughout the process

Without this agreement, a real estate agent is limited in what advice and support they can legally provide.
